Описание к видео Carbon Farming Odyssey | Organic farming, carbon awareness and the role of consumers

Welcome to the second episode of Carbon Farming Odyssey.

In this episode, Piotr Jurga from IUNG-PIB talks with Dr Bettina Fähnrich, Senior Researcher at Naturland – Association for Organic Agriculture (Germany), about the role of organic farming in advancing carbon farming concepts and building long-term soil and climate resilience.

Their conversation explores how farmers understand carbon farming, why the concept is often confused with carbon credits, and how advisory services, research, and cooperation within value chains help translate complex ideas into practical action on farms.

Drawing on real-life experience, Bettina Fähnrich explains that carbon farming goes far beyond agronomy. It is closely linked to soil health, consumer awareness, market incentives, and long-term responsibility for future generations, highlighting the importance of collaboration between farmers, researchers, advisors, policymakers, and consumers.

📌 Topics covered in this episode:
▪️ Organic farming as a foundation for carbon farming
▪️ Farmers’ awareness of carbon sequestration and soil health
▪️ The difference between carbon farming and carbon credits
