The decrease of the Dead Sea water level symbolises the declining groundwater levels all over Jordan and its social and environmental consequences.
The Federal Institute for Geosciences and Natural Resources (BGR) and the Ministry of Water and Irrigation (MWI) in their joint technical cooperation project Management of Groundwater Resources, which is funded by the Federal Ministry for Economic Cooperation and Development (BMZ), are working on a better groundwater management all over Jordan and on raising awareness from decision makers to water consumers on the need for better management and a more sustainable water use in future.
