Who is Dr. James D. Tabor? The latest AI Scoop!

I don't know how many of you use ChatGPT4.o or Grok, or other advanced AI search engines but this week I experimented with Chat's new audio feature and asked the simple question: What can you tell me about the academic work of Dr. James D. Tabor? The unedited response, that I recognize was pulled from about 10 different sources, came back in a few seconds in an accented voice which sounds hauntingly like someone I know. BTW, I grew up in England for four years as a child. In fact it is a generic UK female voice called "Vale" based on regional accents that Chat offers when you ask for audio responses, much like WORD, Edge, Siri, Alexis, and other text to audio programs. If you want to give it a listen, go for it.


I find ChatGPT4.o about 100 times more efficient than Google searches, the old standby, since Google now peppers its responses with a half dozen sponsored ads, no matter what you ask. Also, the time it would take you to sort through all the web pages it brings up, all sorted by algorithms, is exhausting. Grok has different foci. I like both for different reasons:

ChatGPT-4 excels in structured responses, creative writing, and academic support. It has a robust plugin system and tool integrations for web searches, Python calculations, and data handling, making it ideal for research and productivity tasks.

Grok, developed by xAI and integrated into X (formerly Twitter), prioritizes real-time information access and content extraction. It is optimized for conversational and social media-based queries, potentially offering faster direct data retrieval from linked web pages.

Both evolve quickly, so capabilities may continue to shift.
