MGP | Welcome To Perth

Okay, where to start... What a hectic trip! 4 days in Perth riding all the local parks and a massive event at Kinross with a huge crowd. Heres how it went:

The whole team flew in to Perth on the Friday and hired a van to get us around, this was the first time we had the whole team together since the new lineup so everyone was amped. We met up with Billy (our Perth guide haha) and headed straight for Willo, Billy's local park. It was a pretty chill session and everyone sessioned the hip and rail while trying not to overheat in the Perth weather. After riding for a few hours we headed for our accommodation which turned out to... well... not be the best place we have stayed at haha... 8mile! Anyway, we got over it and headed out to grab some pizzas and relax in our ghetto.... I mean cabins.

We were all up on Saturday keen to hit the road for our first store visit -- Wheels For Thrills! The shop was a buzz and Glenn and Linda made us all feel at home -- THANKS GUYS!. We did a bit of a demo out in the carpark with RWilly pulling a crazy fronty off this little ledge... WHATTTT!!! After doing a few signings we grabbed some fluids and jumped in the bus heading for Carine skate park to chill out before the big Kinross event.

So we rocked up at McNaughton Skate Park, Kinross and the crowd swarmed the van... we heard reports that there was heaps of people there but damn! This has to be the biggest event we have attended apart form Moomba... which reminds me is coming up! Anyway, we tried to get some riding done at the park but it was just crazy... riders were lined up 3 or 4 deep just to drop into the bowl.

The council ran the event super smooth and did an awesome job kicking kids off the park between heats and events. First up was the BMX and damn the locals killed it, massive transfers and lines were going down but one local shredded it and slaughtered everyone else. You will have to check the councils website for the winners as things were so hectic I couldnt hear the names.

Next up was the skate event and again there was plenty of talent on show. The park was super smooth and the skaters put on a good show in all age divisions.

Next up the team put on a demo for the huge crowd where Burlando Sanchez pulled what we think might be the first cashroll over a spine, all while on one leg due to an injury. Jackson hucked a frontie out of the deep section of the bowl and Brock was doing some massive flips and cork 7′s over the box while Billy and Robbie got the crowd going on the mic.

The event finished up with the scooter section and the local riders were again putting on an awesome show for the crowd. By this time the sun was going down and the winners were announced and given their prizes.

We jumped in the van and decided to give our 8mile accommodation a miss and find somewhere nicer, like a resort in Scarborough! ahhh... hell yeah!

Sunday we hit up Bayswater first thing and had the park to ourselves, it was a sick session with Brock pulling some big transfers and RWilly getting some nice lines for the edit. Next stop was George's Bike Shop where there was a fair crowd out the front waiting, everyone lined up and got stickers and signatures from the team. Peter and Sue looked after us with plenty of drinks and a free run of the store and we thank you very much for having us, look forward to getting over to see you again!

Then back on the road and out to High Wycome Skate Park.... damn that park was hot! No shade? What!!! So we slapped on plenty of sunscreen and got our session on for a few hours with the locals before packing up and heading to Belmont which Brock was hanging out for. I think we saved the best to last and everyone was loving the box and massive spine! There will be plenty of clips in Nickeh's edit from here and the shots I got just finished off the trip perfectly with the sun setting... ahhh.... haha

Well, that finishes up another kick arse MGP event and one we will be talking about for a while. Thank you Perth for making it an epic trip, looking forward to coming again soon!

Big shout outs to Glenn and Linda from Wheels For Thrills, Peter and Sue from George'e Bike Shop (Billy's local, they always look after him!) and the City of Joondalup Council and Youth Services for putting on a wicked event -- by far one of the biggest turnouts we have seen!

Stay MADD!
