The 1961 Ferrari 250 GT Berlinetta Passo Corto Lusso Speciale "Sharknose" by Bertone... yes, that is it's full name.

There are several thousands of 250s, 103 of which are 1961 250 Berlinetta Passo Cortos, many of which have a post-production coachbuild, the survivors are a Drogo (the Breadvan) and 3 Bertones, 2 of the 3 Bertones are a Sharknose.

This is chassis number 3269GT, it had a full body swap when it was bought by Nuccio Bertone himself, as it became his project, a rebodied 250 SWB, he wouldn’t be the first as Drogo has made many different bodies for the 250 SWB. In simple terms it’s been modified only aesthetically, it still has the infamous Colombo Tipo 168 V12, it still has a 4-speed manual and a steel tubular chassis and disc brakes, it just has a new coat and interior.

The original 250 SWB interior is actually a lot different, this has more leather, a small compartement in the centre console behind the gear lever, a new gear lever, the dashboard layout is similar to that of a 250 GT Lusso, except taller and with buttons everywhere but without glovebox. It has conventional rather than bucket seats and it doesn’t have a roll cage.

The Moral of the story is: there are a tonne of different 250s, a sum of these are 250 Passo Cortos, even less are coachbuilt and only 2 are Sharknoses, they exsist, are only aesthetically different (inside and out-), are a lot of fun to see but I wouldn’t want to own one. Especially considering the already rediculously expesive (and in my opinion better looking) “basic” version costs €5M less, how about you? would you want to own one?
