Commonpoint Queens is Now Commonpoint!

Описание к видео Commonpoint Queens is Now Commonpoint!

Guided by the Jewish values that have been embedded in our services for over seven decades, we created Commonpoint Queens — the merger of the Samuel Field Y and Central Queens Y — to expand our reach, promote fairness in our neighborhoods, meet the evolving needs of our borough, and more effectively reinforce that we are a “commonpoint” for the diverse populations of Queens to come together. When we merged six years ago we offered programs and services for approximately 35,000 community members across 33 locations, mostly in the borough of Queens. Today, we humbly support over 80,000 people of all ages and abilities across 81 locations, with our most recent programs launching in the Bronx, Manhattan and even Virginia Beach.

Our organization’s growth happened rather quickly, but not by accident. When you combine our mission to meet the evolving needs of the community, a talented and ambitious team of dedicated staff members, our city’s uptick in the need for human services, and our earned reputation among policymakers and funders as a go-to partner for addressing perennial and emerging needs in NYC, it all comes together.

If you say “Commonpoint” to anyone from Queens, chances are they’ll name a program that touched, served, or employed a family member or a friend. These past few years, especially as we recover from a pandemic, Commonpoint has emerged in Queens and beyond as a shared safe space, and a place that helps people return from crisis to stability. And it’s with great pride and dedication to remaining collaborative, Queens Kids at heart, that we have and will continue to extend our reach beyond the World’s Borough. Community happens here, but we meet the community where they are.

The beautiful thing about Queens is that it brings people together with shared differences to form a community that can thrive together. And it’s with the spirit of Queens that we will remain committed under the new simplified banner of Commonpoint to providing opportunities for people of different backgrounds, cultures, ages, and beliefs to connect and grow together. Your needs will change, but we will be your constant.

Stay tuned for more updates, and be on the lookout for the next Commonpoint program to open near you.
