Tawang Local Sightseeing | Chakzam | Tawang Monastery | Jang Falls | Jaswantgarh Memorial | Thembang

In this video, we cover all the sightseeing around Tawang, Arunachal Pradesh.

Starting from Chakzam bridge, it is an ancient iron chain suspension bridge located in Tibet. It was constructed in the 15th century by Thangtong Gyalpo, a Tibetan saint, and engineer, who is renowned for building several such bridges across the region. The Chakzam Bridge spans the Yarlung Tsangpo River and is notable for its innovative design and engineering, which were revolutionary at the time. The bridge's construction allowed for improved transportation and communication in the region, significantly impacting the local economy and connectivity.

Next we visited the Giant Buddha Statue. It is a prominent landmark and a significant religious site. Standing at approximately 40 feet tall, the statue depicts a serene and majestic Buddha in a sitting posture, facing the Tawang Monastery. It was erected to promote peace and spirituality in the region. The statue's location on a hill provides a panoramic view of the surrounding landscape, making it a popular spot for both pilgrims and tourists.

Next we went to the beautiful Tawang Monastery. Also known as Galden Namgey Lhatse, it is one of the largest and most significant monasteries in India. Located in the Tawang district of Arunachal Pradesh, it was founded by Merak Lama Lodre Gyatso in 1680-81 under the orders of the 5th Dalai Lama. Perched at an elevation of about 10,000 feet, the monastery overlooks the Tawang River Valley and offers stunning views of the surrounding mountains. The monastery plays a crucial role in preserving and promoting Tibetan Buddhist culture in the region.

And then we ended the day with the light and sound show in Tawang.

Next morning, we visited the Nurarang Falls. Also known as Jang Falls or Bong Bong Falls, it is a beautiful waterfall located in the Tawang district of Arunachal Pradesh, India. It is approximately 40 kilometers from Tawang, near the village of Jang. The falls drop from a height of about 100 meters, creating a magnificent cascade and a scenic environment. Fed by the Nuranang River, which originates from the Sela Pass, the falls merge into the Tawang River downstream. The area around Nuranang Falls is lush and green, providing a serene and picturesque setting. Despite being relatively lesser-known, the falls are a hidden gem, offering a tranquil escape for nature lovers and travelers. Nuranang Falls also holds some historical significance as a part of the Bollywood film "Koyla" was shot here.

Next stop was the Jaswantgarh War Memorial. Located about 21 kilometers from Tawang in Arunachal Pradesh, India, honors Rifleman Jaswant Singh Rawat, a hero of the 1962 Sino-Indian War. Singh single-handedly fought Chinese forces for three days in the Battle of Nuranang. The memorial features his personal belongings, a shrine, a small temple, and a museum. It is a symbol of bravery and patriotism, drawing visitors from all over.

And the last stop of this vlog and this trip was Thembang Village. Located in Arunachal Pradesh, India, is a historic and scenic village known for its traditional Monpa architecture and cultural heritage. Situated at an altitude of about 2,300 meters, Thembang is a fortified village with ancient stone walls and gates. It offers stunning views of the surrounding mountains and valleys. The village is part of the Thembang Bapu Community Conserved Area, which promotes eco-tourism and conservation. Visitors to Thembang can experience the rich Monpa culture, traditional lifestyle, and picturesque landscapes.
