A long trip from CYQS St Thomas ending with an approach from the South West to CYRO Rockcliffe Airport, Ottawa Ontario. I followed one of the recommended routes that was well explained on the Rockcliffe Flying Club website. Route kept me outside of class C airspace and took a scenic path over the Ottawa River and Gatineau Park. Kept the recommended altitude of 2200' , turned South East at the Chelsea Dam and followed the East side of the Gatineau River. Where the Gatineau River meets the Ottawa River I turned East, dropped down to the circuit altitude of 1200' and joined a straight in right downwind for 27. Extremely friendly staff topped up my tanks and gave me a place to park for a couple hours while I went and had a nice albeit brief visit with my son who attends University in Ottawa. The most expensive lunch I've ever had... Beautiful flying area that I will definitely come back and explore more in the future.
