Trillium 2020 Martin Bass Lecture

Dr. Martin J. Bass was Chair of the Graduate Studies Program in the Department of Family Medicine at Western University from 1977 to 1980, and the first Director of the Centre for Studies in Family Medicine from 1986 to 1996. His career as a family physician researcher had a major impact on the development of family practice research around the world. This lecture honours Dr. Bass and his strong commitment to family medicine research.

Dr. Nav Persaud is the Canada Research Chair in Health Justice and an Associate Professor at the University of Toronto Dept. of Family and Community Medicine, and a Staff Family Physician at St. Michael’s Hospital.

Dr. Persaud’s research focuses on enhancing the ability of primary care to address health inequities through the development and application of high quality evidence. Nav leads the CLEAN Meds trial of free essential medicines distribution, and the Global Essential Medicines research program that is a partnership with the World Health Organization.
