For the Song Contest of 2024, the students of Kamehameha Schools Kapālama will unite in song to pay homage to one of Hawai‘i’s most esteemed figures in music, composition, entertainment, and hula instruction - Bill Ali‘iloa Lincoln.

Born William Lionel Kalaniali‘iloa Lincoln in Kehena, North Kohala, Hawai‘i, Uncle Bill is cherished for his Hawaiian melodies and his uniquely resonant falsetto vocals. Across a career spanning nearly eight decades, Uncle Bill’s musical creations and melodies from his native land resonated across Hawai‘i, the mainland U.S., and around the globe. As a student under Johnny Almeida and guided by Mary Kawena Pukui, it’s no surprise that Uncle Bill’s exquisite compositions endure as timeless Hawaiian classics, cherished by all to this day.
