Common Limpet, Patella vulgata (assumed) and Acorn Barnacles, Semibalanus balanoides (assumed) on rocks in SW Scotland. Happy to be corrected on species. Have you tried to kick a limpet as a child? Have you touched one to see it clamp down hard on the rock? Have you snuck up on one like I did at low tide and watched it move? This one probes and slides and pirouettes in front of my very eyes. I feel blessed to have witnessed its slow and graceful movement.
This one is out grazing between tides and will return to its 'Home Scar' where its shell has grown to match the contours of the rock and fit perfectly.
The sound of the shore on this video is so evocative of a lively seaside scene with the gulls calling out.
