Why Become an Intern at Denova?

There are seven aspects of the Denova Academic Program:

1. Learn about Denova’s CAIR model and how our core values of Compassion, Adaptability, Innovation and Reliability guide everything we do.

2. Get hands on experience learning how to employ theories of development and selected therapeutic practice orientations using a fully integrated model of care.

3. Work with our expert providers in a virtual or onsite setting, learning how to use mental health outcomes to inform quality care.

4. As an intern, you will be assigned smaller caseloads with flexible hours to ensure you have time to learn and grow as a healthcare professional. Our local internships require students to participate in-person one day a week and complete the remainder of their training hours virtually. We also offer fully remote internships for students outside of the Phoenix Metropolitan area.

5. The core tenants of a student internship with Denova are the Six Cs: Competence, Confidence, Communication, Conceptualization, Clinical Documentation and Community/Cultural Diversity.

6. You will learn how to assess, diagnose, plan, treat and evaluate patients using the Diagnostic and Statistical Manual of Mental Disorders, DSM 5-TR You could be eligible for grant funding for tuition reimbursement depending on your university’s participation.

7. When you’ve completed the Denova Internship Program, you’ll be a trauma informed provider with skills in rapport building, evidenced-based care tools, appropriate diagnosing of clients, and working with individuals, families, and group therapy settings.
