Police cut short the Moroccan Youth Voice protest, originally scheduled to take place nationwide from 27–28 September, in major cities including Rabat and Casablanca.

Young people had gathered near Morocco’s parliament, to chant slogans calling for reform in the education and healthcare sectors.

However, in both Rabat and Casablanca, the demonstrations were swiftly curtailed. Police dispersed protesters and made several arrests.

In their original statement, the organisers had made it clear that the demonstration was intended to be peaceful, inviting participation from all segments of society, including students, teachers, and healthcare professionals.

Their stated aim was to press for systemic improvements in education and healthcare, which they argue are essential pillars of national development.
