The Supreme Court has permitted the CBI to formally register a case and investigate the NCR builder-bank nexus. The development comes after the seventh preliminary inquiry found a cognizable offence under the subvention scheme.

The case involves home loans disbursed directly to builders, who were meant to pay EMIs until possession. After developers defaulted, banks demanded repayment from homebuyers, many of whom never received their flats. Over 1,200 homebuyers from Noida, Greater Noida, and Gurugram have filed the petition, citing coercion and financial distress.
