1010 WINS 9-11-2001 News Coverage 8:00 AM - 9:00 AM

In case you haven't noticed by now, this channel reached 1000 subs today. Thank you to everyone who has subscribed since I started doing this nearly four years ago. To celebrate, I've decided to upload radio coverage to this channel for the first time. Allow me to explain:

These segments, which cover the 24 hour period from 8 AM on September 11th to 8 AM on September 12th, were originally available for listening on the CBS New York website. Up until recently, they were still accessible via Google search. As of today, however, while the links to each of the segments are still there, they have since gone dead. So, I took it upon myself to salvage all of the segments, turn them into videos, and upload them here so they would still be available to a wide audience.

You will also notice that there are 7 or 8 seconds missing at the end of each hour. That's not an error on my part, that was how the segments were originally.

This segment begins at 8:00, about 45 minutes before the first attack, with Lee Harris anchoring. As is quite unique for a news station, the format clock cycles every 20 minutes. At 20 minutes, Judy DeAngelis takes over at the anchor desk. Then, at 40 minutes past the hour, James Faherty comes on air, and 10 minutes later at the 50:31 mark, the news first breaks about the first attack. The reporter who breaks the news is Joan Fleischer, who isn't an actual reporter but a staff member at the station.
