Indian Women in Science and Technology| International Day of Women & Girl in Science| Audio Article

Celebrated every year on February 11, the International Day of Women and Girls in Science is observed by the United Nation to promote, the full and equal access and participation of women in Science, Technology, Engineering and Mathematics (STEM) fields. Actually, in March 2011, the United Nations Assembly on the Status of Women adopted a resolution aimed at encouraging the participation of women and girls in science and technology. As well as providing education and training to promote equal access of women to full employment and decent work. In this regard, on 20 December 2013, the General Assembly adopted a resolution on Science, Technology and Innovation. The resolution reiterated that women and girls should have full and equal access to science and technology for the empowerment and gender equality. Significantly, this year's theme is 'IDEAS', i.e. Innovate, Demonstrate, Elevate, Advance and Sustain. Which aims to ensure equal access and participation of women in science, technology, engineering and mathematics fields. In this regard, to achieve the 2030 Sustainable Development Goal and its 17 global goals, the aim is to establish a link between the international community and women involved in science. As well as channelling the knowledge and expertise among them in a systematic and critical manner in the right direction.

दरअसल हाल ही में ‘विज्ञान में महिलायें और लड़कियां’ से संबंधित आठवां अंतर्राष्ट्रीय दिवस मनाया गया| इस संबंध में संयुक्त राष्ट्र संघ द्वारा 11 फ़रवरी को प्रत्येक वर्ष, यह अंतर्राष्ट्रीय दिवस मनाया जाता है| असल में मार्च 2011 में महिलाओं की स्थिति को लेकर संयुक्त राष्ट्र सभा ने एक प्रस्ताव अपनाया जिसका उद्देश्य विज्ञान और प्रौद्योगिकी में महिलाओं और लड़कियों की भागीदारी को प्रोत्साहित करना था| साथ ही पूर्ण रोजगार और अच्छे काम के लिए महिलाओं की समान पहुंच को बढ़ावा देने को लेकर शिक्षण और प्रशिक्षण प्रदान करना था| इस संबंध में 20 दिसंबर 2013 को महासभा ने विज्ञान, प्रौद्योगिकी और नवाचार पर एक संकल्प अपनाया| इस संकल्प में इस बात को दोहराया गया कि महिलाओं और लड़कियों के सशक्तिकरण और लैंगिक समानता के लिए विज्ञान और प्रौद्योगिकी में उनकी पूर्ण और समान पहुंच होनी चाहिए| गौरतलब है कि इस वर्ष का विषय ‘IDEAS’, यानी कि इनोवेट, डिमॉन्स्ट्रेट, एलिवेट, एडवांस और सस्टेन है| जिसका उद्देश्य विज्ञान, प्रौद्योगिकी, इंजीनियरिंग और गणित क्षेत्रों में महिलाओं की समान पहुंच और भागीदारी को सुनिश्चित करना है| इस संबंध में 2030 के सतत विकास लक्ष्य और इसके 17 वैश्विक लक्ष्यों को प्राप्त करने के लिए, अंतर्राष्ट्रीय समुदाय और विज्ञान के क्षेत्र में शामिल महिलाओं के बीच एक लिंक स्थापित करना है| साथ ही उनके बीच एक व्यवस्थित और महत्वपूर्ण तरीके से ज्ञान और विशेषज्ञता का सही दिशा में प्रयोग करना है|
