Bridgestone BT45 - Ongoing Review #2 - Ninja 300

Today I am reviewing the BT45's after 2000km. I am enjoying the very positive feedback from the tyres in wet and dry conditions. What struck me most early on, was how the tyres handle tar-snakes. In our local area, they were quite noticeable when I had the Avon Road Rider AM26's on the bike. But the BT45's handle them with absolute ease.

Wet weather riding is also much improved over the Avon's too. The bike feels more planted in the corners. Not sure if that is because of the softer compound on the outside of the tread (as the centre of the tyres is a harder/longer wearing compound)...whatever it is, I like it. A lot!

I changed over from the Avons to the BT45's when they had around 26,000km on them. The rear Avon was still ~2mm to the tread depth indicator, but the front Avon was well down/flush to the tread indicator...and even in the dry, I was losing confidence in them...possibly tyre age? Who knows? The take away here, is that as soon as you lose confidence in your tyres, it is time to replace them!

If you take your bike into a dealership for new tyres...ride in/ride out, check that the axle nuts are torqued to spec! Mine were not!!
