The management of research projects can be a daunting and overwhelming activity. Research Project Managers have been easing this burden, assisting Investigators and Research Administrators alike in the management of their diverse projects. Through the deployment and use of accepted project management principles, tools and techniques and leveraging their research experience, acquired skillsets and networks, Research Project Managers have assisted in the delivery of high quality, impactful research (results) and improvements in research administration and business operations. This presentation will provide attendees with an overview of how project management tools, techniques and principles have been used by Research Project Managers within the research environment. It will define the role of the Project Manager and present reasons why experienced project management is recommended in clinical and health research.
