Montréal: Accident spectaculaire avec incendie / Dramatic crash with truck on fire 8-23-2018

À 2h50 ce matin un spectaculaire accident de la route a fait deux blessés graves sur l'autoroute 40 à l'est de l'échangeur Des Sources à Dorval. Un camion de transport de marchandise de plus de 40 pieds a pris feu après l'impact et s'est complètement embrasé. Des travailleurs qui s'affairaient vraissemblablement aux travaux sur la 40 ont été parmis les blessés. Des images tôt sur scène montrent l'intensité des flammes qui se dégageaient des véhicules accidentés. Au moins 4 ambulances ont été dépêchées sur scène pour venir en aide aux pompiers surchargés. Les équipes de secours ont forcé une barrière séparant l'auroroute des voies de services afin de brancher un boyau à une born fontaine. L'autoroute a été bloqué complètement en direction est afin de permettre aux pompiers de combattre l'incendie. Selon le porte-parole d'Urgences Santé Steve Fiset, l'accident s'est produit lorsqu'un poids lourd a foncé dans un véhicule de travailleurs qui s'affairaient à déplacer des cônes oranges de signalisation. Une victime, un homme dans la fin vingtaine était dans la boîte extérieure du camion et s'affairaient à la tâche. Il a été projeté sous l'impact et a souffert de graves blessûres mettant sa vie en danger. Un autre travailleur lui aussi en fin vingtaine aurait subit des blessûres graves alors qu'il a été brûlé au 2e degré suite à l'incendie qui s'en est suivit. Le conducteur du poids lourd, un homme dans la quarantaine a lui aussi été transporté en centre hospitalier avec des blessûres mineures.

At 2h50 this morning a spectacular collision left two road maintenance crews seriously hurt in Montreal, Quebec, Canada. A tractor trailer driving eastbound on Highway 40 just east of Des Sources interchange in Dorval, rammed multiple roadcrew trucks at high speed. The impact caused a fire to brake out and quickly involved the large semi transport truck. Flames could be seen from a distance, turning into thick black toxic smoke rising over the scene of the crash. Firefighters battled the intense blaze that consumed more than one vehicle. They forced open a fence separating the sideroad from the highway in order to stretch a line and plug it into a nearby fire hydrant. At least 4 ambulances made their way in top priority to the scene of the terrible accident. Parmedics and firemen rushed to provide help and assistance to the possible injured. One of the worker, a male in his late 20's was thrown from the back of the vehicle he was taking place in while he was picking up orange traffic safety cones in a construction zone. He suffered critical injuries and remains in life-threatening condition in hospital, according to Steve Fiset a spokesperson for Urgences Sante. Fiset also says that another worker suffered serious burns cause by the fiery nature of the catastrophic accident. The driver of the tractor trailer suffered minor injuries but was also transported to hospital. Highway 40 was shut down in the eastbound direction most of the day causing heavy traffic delays in the West Island.
