Will is treated several times throughout the movie by Sean, and their relationship is often considered to be the most redeeming and interesting part of the film.

Some people believe that this movie really captures the essence of counseling. Some believe it’s one of the worst things that could have happened to counseling. Others believe that even with the ethical problems we see in Sean’s behavior, much can be learned from the therapy scenes in this film.
