Lagenda Dang Bandang: Woman of Strength and Dignity

"A conceptual dance piece based on the Legends of the Great Warrior Mat Salleh. This piece takes a different route to look into the perspective of Dang Bandang, the wife of Mat Salleh, as she departs from Mat Salleh's fortress holding off the North Borneo Chartered Company's forces. This dance piece speaks of without words about the sorrow, fear and loneliness that Dang Bandang feels as she continues her journey with her entourage in search of a hiding place"

Movements are based on the traditional dance 'Igal - Igal' originated from the ethnic tribe Bajau Semporna and evolved to a more contemporary setting.
