BNP Chairperson Khaleda Zia has paid respects on the Victory Day to the nation’s war heroes who laid down their lives for Bangladesh’s independence in 1971.
The party’s senior leaders and activities accompanied her in placing wreath at the National Memorial at Savar.
BNP acting Secretary General Mirza Fakhrul Islam Alamgir, Joint Secretary General Ruhul Kabir Rizvi, Standing Committee members Abdul Moyeen Khan, Gayeshwar Chandra Roy, Vice-Chairman Selima Rahman and many others.
Leaders and activists of several BNP front groups joined them in paying respect to the brave hearts of 1971. Bangladesh is celebrate the 44th anniversary of its victory over Pakistan on Wednesday.
Nearly three million people were killed in the nine-month long 1971 Liberation War and 200,000 women and girls were dishonored. From the National Memorial, Khaleda Zia led her party to pay tributes to her late husband Ziaur Rahman, who was Sector commander during the 1971 Liberation War.

She laid a wreath on his grave at Dhaka’s Sher-e-Bangla Nagar. Large number of leaders and activist were gathered in the national memorial area to see the ex prime minister Khaleda Zia. Khalda Zia was Criticized by the Government for making coalition with Jamaat e islami the mail opposition of the liberation war.
