Slimane - Mon Amour 🇫🇷 | Emotional Orchestral Arrangement

An emotional orchestral cover of Slimane's beautiful Eurovision entry "Mon Amour". This entry from the France came fourth overall, as well as fourth from the public and second from the juries. Well deserved.

This was composed in Logic using mostly Spitfire Audio instruments, along with some bonus choirs from Performance Samples and 8dio and cello from Cinesamples (and Tina Guo), strings from Spitfire Audio. Song written by Slimane, arrangement by me.

This one was interesting because it works well with a minimal style arrangement, so a lot of the work was writing and then deleting. I still think I left it more busy than I'd otherwise want, but since I couldn't remove the backing track I had to make mine come out a little more prominent. This song has really grown on me, particularly the step back from the mic with no accompaniment. I added some drums to that (to make it still feel like an arrangement) but otherwise I think keeping it silent is the way to go. And then building up choruses 2 and 3 a bit more to fit with his beautiful voice better, in my opinion.
