Perfect for Non-Stick Pans, Very Functional, Great Reach

The 12" are perfect for applications with non-stick surfaces to avoid scratching and comfortable and functional to use. For example, they are excellent for stir frying things in a pan or turning sausages in a fry pan. Yet the 12" are not so big that they still feel comfortable like an extension of your arm and you still feel in control. The nylon heads can melt under high heat, but not in routine use in frying pans. Don't leave them in the pan. Set them aside on a spoon rest or plate when not using. They are intended for this purpose so you should expect them to work with no worries. They are nylon, which isn't exactly silicone or non-stick, but I've never had a problem with anything sticking to these beyond using a nylon scrub pad. Every kitchen needs a stock of the right utensils for the right purpose. These are perfect as the non-stick compatible variation. We definitely use these most frequently of any of our tongs.

These are not necessarily the best for every possible situation, such as for the barbeque, leaving on constant heat, or when you need a softer touch. They are not the only tongs you need. Every kitchen needs a variety of tools to suit the particular application. These are excellent for applications that involve non-stick surfaces and don't need a soft touch. Oxo has other tongs that are suited to other applications. I highly recommend the OXO Good Grips 12-Inch Stainless-Steel Locking Tongs for the barbeque. I highly recommend the OXO Good Grips Silicone Flexible Tongs when you need a softer touch and fine control or more of a spatula replacement.
