During a conversation on Tucker Carlson’s program, journalist and commentator Megyn Kelly explained that she is going through a personal process of deep reassessment regarding how she has understood the conflict between Israel and Gaza, as well as the role media outlets and political actors play in shaping public narratives.

Throughout the interview, Kelly said she has recently begun questioning to what extent much of the information she consumes — and that dominates the media debate — has been presented from a strongly pro-Israel perspective, often without room for nuance or dissent. She explained that this reflection emerged after noticing that certain influential voices do not tolerate criticism and respond with cancellation or pressure when someone steps outside the dominant narrative.

Kelly stated that this environment has led her to “start from scratch” in her analysis of Israel, reexamining who the key actors are, what decisions they make, and how to access information she considers closer to the facts. She openly acknowledged that, in her view, propaganda exists on both sides of the conflict, and that her current challenge is identifying trustworthy sources in order to form her own opinion rather than accepting prepackaged narratives.

In this context, she also addressed her views on Islam and Islamism. Kelly made clear that she maintains a critical stance toward radical Islam and political projects rooted in Islamist ideology, stressing that she does not support the idea of Islamist movements governing cities or institutions in the West. At the same time, she emphasized that this position should not be confused with blanket hostility toward Muslims, noting that she has close friends who are Muslim.

The journalist also acknowledged that she herself has participated in broadly negative narratives about Muslims in the past, but said she is now questioning how much of that discourse has been deliberately fueled by fervently pro-Israel sectors which, in her assessment, seek to promote absolute hostility toward the Muslim world in order to sustain their own narrative.

In response to Carlson’s questions, Kelly described this moment as a period of personal inquiry and reassessment, in which she is trying to separate facts from political interests and emotional framing. Her remarks sparked a broader discussion about the credibility of media narratives in international conflicts and the difficulty of maintaining critical positions without being labeled or attacked in an increasingly polarized environment.
