1972 was, in many ways, the peak year for the CTI All-Stars - a big concert tour that was planned and executed, including both the USA and Europe. Rather than having a few stars and a backing band as best as possible, the label put out a Motown-style review, a big band with as many of the stars from CTI and KUDU labels at each concert as their schedules allowed.

At Châteauvallon in August 1972, the musicians appeared twice: once in the afternoon and a second set in the evening. There are various audio recordings of those sets, both here on YouTube and catalogued on Discogs.

This video film was recorded, as were the audio recordings, by the French national broadcaster, Office de Radiodiffusion-Télévision Française (ORTF), the successor to RTF. The video shown here comes, obviously, from the evening performance at Amphithéâtre de plein-air, the main terrace that faces a small forest and the sea beyond. It is not complete and was edited into a 30-minute TV show.
