4ms Spectral Multiband Resonator (SMR), an ambient patching experiment

Описание к видео 4ms Spectral Multiband Resonator (SMR), an ambient patching experiment

This is my first go at patching the 4ms company Spectral Multiband Resonator (SMR). Think of this as a set of six filters that can self-oscillate at high resonance, and the notes they play are  a chord in a scale. You can move that scale around, pitching it up and down the piano keyboard, but you can also space out the notes being played in the chord, and even change the rate at which notes morph into each other. The overall effect is to create an evolving wave of pure sine waves interplaying with each other, which becomes even more pronounced when you pass the audio through a tape delay as I'm doing here in the FX Aid.

How am I making the notes rotate and the scales chords change? The Klavis Quadigy generates two clocks on envelope outputs 1 and 4 to clock two trigger sequencers in the Ornament and Crime. These send triggers into the Rotate Left and Rotate Right CV inputs on the SMR. They also send triggers into the Odd and Even trigger inputs. None of these things are in sync with each other, so the result is random and unpredictable. In addition the Quadigy envelopes 2 and 3 and looping generating slow ramp waves to modulate the Morph and Spread parameters on the SMR to shift the notes around the 'keyboard'.

All housed in my 60hp case from Modulaire Maritime.

Detailed Patch Notes

Ornament and Crime
Running Hemispheres firmware
Left firmware is running Trigger Sequencer 16 with the A and B output going into the Odd and Even trigger inputs on the SMR
Right Hemisphere is running Trigger Sequencer and sending the C and D outputs to the Rotate Left and Rotate Right inputs on the SMR

Klavis Quadigy
Envelope 1 is clocking the right Hemisphere trigger sequencer
Envelope 4 is clocking the left Hemisphere trigger sequencer
Envelope 2 is modulating the Morph CV on SMR with a looping slow triangle wave
Envelope 3 is modulating Spread on the SMR in the same way

4ms SMR
Audio output goes to the FX Aid XL
Start with Resonance Q at 50% and dial it up and down to play
Raise and lower faders to bring in and out different resonant tones

Happy Nerding FX Aid XL
Running the 3-head tape delay algorithm
Play around until you get this dialed in nicely
Audio to the Erica Output stage

Erica Synths Output
Output to mixer
