Hundreds of demonstrators have taken to the streets of Paris to
protest against France's underground nuclear test in the South
Pacific. Demonstrators gathered in the Place de Bastille where the
French revolution began, wearing anti nuclear slogans on their
faces and carrying banners condemning the test blast. The protest
was organised by the environmental pressure group Greenpeace and
leftist political parties.
