📽️ Low-Code in Hybrid Clouds: An Empirical Comparison of Four Leading Platforms
Low-code business process automation (BPA) platforms are rapidly becoming central to digital transformation strategies, yet their adoption in hybrid cloud environments introduces complex trade-offs that remain underexplored.
This session presents findings from an empirical evaluation of four leading low-code platforms, benchmarked against a standardized healthcare prior-authorization workflow. Using rigorous performance testing, we assessed critical dimensions such as deployment flexibility, integration latency, security, usability, and runtime efficiency.
Our study uncovered four distinct architectural models—unified caching frameworks, generation-based code compilation, cloud-native microservices, and model-driven stateless runtimes—each with unique implications for development effort, scalability, and operational overhead. Key results highlight significant differences in transaction throughput, degradation patterns under concurrent loads, and cross-boundary integration performance.
The evidence confirms there is no universal "best" low-code solution for hybrid deployments. Instead, organizations must align platform choice with regulatory needs, legacy integration complexity, time-to-market goals, and hybrid topology requirements.
Attendees will gain a practical decision framework and actionable insights to guide platform selection—grounded in empirical data rather than vendor claims—empowering technology leaders to make informed investments in hybrid cloud low-code strategies.
