Surprise, AZ (May 18, 2022) – Tuesday night, two people died and two others sustained injuries in a wrong-way crash on Sun Valley Parkway.

The fatal wrong-way crash in Surprise happened at around 9 p.m. on May 17.

The Surprise Fire Department and Maricopa County Sheriff’s Office responded to the crash scene and located multiple vehicles.

Authorities said the driver, an adult male who was traveling in the wrong direction caused the collision and died at the crash scene.

EMS took three patients to the hospital but one of the passengers later died. The two people are said to have non-life-threatening injuries.

No other information is immediately available.

Further investigation to determine the cause of the wrong-way crash is ongoing.
