Why Panasonic UB9000's HDR Optimiser is Such A Killer Feature

We explain and demonstrate why the [HDR Optimiser] function on the Panasonic UB9000/ UB820/ UB420 4K UHD Blu-ray players is such a killer feature, extracting the best picture quality from 4K Blu-rays for most displays.

Note that the level to which the feature performs the tone-mapping is controlled by the [HDR Display Type] settings in the player menu. [HDR Optimiser] can only be applied to HDR10 (the majority of 4K Blu-ray titles) & HLG content, and not to HDR10+ & Dolby Vision discs which already benefit from dynamic metadata.

This majority of this video is filmed using the Blackmagic Design Pocket Cinema Camera 4K (BMPCC 4K) to capture higher dynamic range.
