The "Afternoon" Rag (Rag in C major)

Описание к видео The "Afternoon" Rag (Rag in C major)

This one's a bit different from the music I've shared so far: it's written in ragtime, an American style that was popular just about 100 years ago (see Wikipedia: https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Ragtime). Ragtime music usually has a catchy, syncopated, and (debatably) swung melody, contrasted with a non-syncopated, highly intuitive bass line. One of the greatest ragtime composers was Scott Joplin, and I wrote this rag in an attempt to closely follow his style.

The reason I call it the "Afternoon" Rag is that in the intro (0:05) you almost can hear the piano say "Good Afternoon" layered several times; then, at 0:55 you can hear it say "Afternoon, my dear; afternoon, my dear".

Thanks for listening! I know it's not the "normal" classical music I write, so let me know if you'd like to hear more music like this.

Note: My videos are not "live" performances: I start with a midi recording of my performance, but because I'm not a professional pianist, I make mistakes. Thus, I edit the midi recording, because my goal is to share my music at its best, not to showcase my piano playing skills. However, these recordings still reflect my interpretation, as I am the one playing and editing the performance.
