A hostel for transgender students has been opened on the MG University campus in Kottayam, Kerala. It is the first such hostel inside a university campus in the state.

Kerala's Higher Education Minister R Bindu inaugurated the hostel. Minister V N Vasavan was also present. After the inauguration, Bindu said, "All support should be provided to transgender stuednts coming to the university.

The minister also inaugurated the construction of the International Students Hostel.

Minister V N Vasavan, who presided over the function, said that a sports complex being constructed at MG University at a cost of Rs. 57 crore from KIIFB will be completed within the stipulated time.
