The Adventures of Sharkboy and Lavagirl in 3-D follows the story of a young boy named Max who is an imaginative dreamer. Max feels neglected at home and bullied at school. He creates an imaginary world called Planet Drool, which he fills with superheroes like Sharkboy and Lavagirl. Sharkboy was raised by sharks and possesses shark-like abilities, while Lavagirl can produce and control fire and lava.

Max’s imaginary heroes come to life and take him on an adventure to save Planet Drool from the clutches of the evil Mr. Electric. Along the way, Max discovers the power of his imagination and learns important lessons about bravery, friendship, and self-belief.
