Calculate Static Force & Pressure on a Dam | Bernoulli's Law

Описание к видео Calculate Static Force & Pressure on a Dam | Bernoulli's Law

Calculate the static pressure against a dam face as a function of the height of the dam. This can be done by applying Bernoullis law and recognizing that there is only Static and Hydrostatic pressure in the water behind the dam. There is no Dynamic pressure because nothing is moving.

We account for atmospheric pressure at the surface of the water, however the pressure against the dry face of the dam offsets the atmospheric pressure on the water surface, thus making the consideration of atmospheric pressure negligible.

Then calculate the total force on the dam face by integrating the force on infinitely thin sections of the dam from the base of the dam to the surface of the water in the reservoir.
