Top 3 REITs for 2023

Today, I present my Top 3 REITs for 2023*. REITs dropped by nearly 30% in 2023 and even large-cap REITs like Realty Income (O), Pologis (PLD), and Simon Property Group (SPG) became undervalued. We find even better value among smaller REITs like Whitestone REIT (WSR), Armada Hoffler (AHH), and Clipper Realty (CLPR). WSR is a REIT that focuses on service-oriented shopping centers and it is currently offered at a 30% discount to its net asset value and pays a 5% dividend yield.

AHH is a REIT that owns a diversified portfolio, but it is rapidly becoming a quasi-apartment REIT and yet, it trades at a 2x smaller valuation multiple than its pure-play apartment peers.

CLPR is a REIT that specializes in apartment communities in New York City. It trades at just half of its net asset value because NYC is today out of favor.
