▶PRESENTATION :

Named Agadir of Oufella by the inhabitants of the region, an Amazigh name which means "Agadir of the high" since it was built on a height of 236 meters, since the Casbah you will have a panoramic sight on the port, the bay and thewholecity with an exceptional landscape at the time of sunset.



Erected in 1540 by the King of Morocco Mohammed Sheikh belonging to the Saadian dynasty in order to protect the city at the time of any possible Portuguese invasions.later rebuilt in 1752 by Moulay Abdellah for more security.



The earthquake that struck Agadir in 1960 destroyed most of its walls, and were restored keeping their authenticity, except for the gateway that has been preserved.It is accessed by a road with a magnificent panorama.



A beautiful place to visit on Agadir, if you are not forgetting to watch the sunset that offers additional beauty to the sea and the harbor on an extraordinary panoramic view

▶ABOUT THE PLACE :

Offering superb views and 7km northwest of the centre, the hilltop kasbah is a rare survivor of the 1960 earthquake. Built in 1541 and restored in the 1740s, the area once housed 300 people. All that remains is the outer wall, though traces of the dwellings can still be made out. The inscription over the entry arch in Dutch and Arabic (‘Believe in God and respect the King’) is a reminder of the beginning of trade with the Low Countries.
