Groupon CFO Jason Child has been the focus of attention following the Internet coupon company's revised results and disclosures concerning material weaknesses in its internal controls. And while some accounting observers say the company's frenetic pace of growth made problems likely, others say Groupon's first-ever CFO is to blame for releasing unaudited numbers after a series previous accounting issues. The company said late Friday that the revenue it reported in early February was overstated, because it failed to adequately set aside money for customer refunds. It also said in a filing with the Securities and Exchange Commission that it found material weaknesses in its internal controls. The company engaged KPMG to help make it Sarbanes-Oxley compliant by the end of the year, according to The Wall Street Journal.
