The Progression of a Bull Moose Shedding His Velvet
Welcome to Moose & Coffee Memories. We are so busy filming we can only manage production on one video a week right now. We will dig in when we get home in late October, and we may find some freed up time once the rut winds down in a few days.

We often revisit scenes from Grumpy’s life, but today’s bull also lived an extraordinary life. We called him “22.” This animal lived a long productive life. He was good at being a dominant bull moose. Very good! He fought often, he stayed healthy, we never saw him with a broken tine, although we have seen photos of him from before we began this journey of him with a broken antler paddle in 2015. He is right up there among the oldest bulls we have documented, nearly making it to 14 years of age.

Here he is in his final year on the planet. All the footage is from 2022, and we take you thru the velvet stage, to shedding the velvet, and finally it ends with a clean fresh rack. Hope you enjoy it, and please check in Wednesday for a 2024 rut action.
