Lamy Aion Overview｜ Available at Appelboom

The Lamy aion is the latest addition in the Lamy collection and just introduced. The aion is designed by one of the most creative talents of our time, Jasper Morrison.

The smooth deep-drawn aluminium body components of the Lamy Aion are the first of their kind and give the series a unique, harmonious appearance. Brushed and blasted surfaces are refined with a brilliant silk-matt anodic coating finish, creating formal tension. The sturdy high gloss polished clip perfectly rounds off the overall design.

The box:
The Lamy Aion comes in the luxury carton Lamy box with the Lamy logo on top of the box. The inside of the box has a velvet inlay, which makes sure the pen will not get any scratches.

Materials used for the Lamy Aion:
The cap and barrel of the Lamy aion are constructed from solid aluminum, each made from seamless closed components. The brushed and blasted surfaces are refined with a brilliant silk-matte anodic coating finish. The high gloss solid looking clip perfectly finishes the design.

Color options for the Lamy Aion:
The anodized Lamy Aion is available in two colour option, black and olivesilver. The black of the Aion is very deep, and much darker compared to the Lamy2000 black. The olivesilver is also a different shade of silver compared to the steel brushed Lamy 2000 Metal.

Features:
The Lamy Aion is designed as a minimalistic pen, which you clearly see. There are no decorative rings, endorsements or whatsoever. The clip is finely engraved with the brand name, Lamy, but it doesn’t shout the brand name at all.
The stainless steel clip is spring loaded, this makes sure the clip will not bend or deform in any way.
A Teflon ring inside the cap of the fountain and rollerball pen won´t make any scratches if you put the cap at the rear of the pen.

Nib options:
The nib on the Lamy Aion fountain pen is a new designed Lamy nib. It looks quite a lot like the original Lamy nibs; although the shape is a little different. The nib is interchangeable, so if preferred you can put a 14kt gold nib, or a black coloured Lamy nib on the pen to customize it the way you prefer. The pen comes standard with an Extra Fine, Fine, Medium or Broad nib.

Filling mechanism
The fountain pen uses Lamy Z27 converter, or the Lamy ink cartridges. The converter is not included, but can be bought separately. The ballpoint uses the Lamy M16 ballpoint refills and the rollerball the Lamy M63 refills.

Dimensions and comparison (slides in comparison picture)
The Lamy Aion is one of the biggest Lamy pens and also the heaviest. The pen weights 32 grams, the barrel weights 22 grams and the cap is 10 grams. In size, the pen is comparable in size with the Lamy 2000 and the Scala, although the Scala is much thinner.
