If you've ever owned a fish tank, you'll know how important water quality is to life below the surface.

Water quality affects the health and productivity of many ocean communities, including seagrasses and coral reefs. Long-term monitoring of water quality can tell us important information about the marine environment, including its status and responses to local and global pressures.

Biological-chemical oceanographer Dr Renee Gruber presented this webinar for National Science Week 2020 about AIMS’ water quality monitoring science in the Great Barrier Reef Marine Park, including the Marine Monitoring Program – Inshore Water Quality and the Integrated Marine Observing System. Discover why we collect water quality information and learn about the tools and methods scientists use to collect these data out in the ocean.
