Ahhhhh fullbacks . Probably the most difficult position on the pitch. In this situation, we focused on Harry’s passing + long-distance clips . Today’s game as a fullback is all about being able to play forwards and being confident on the ball.

The first drill is straightforward - we focused on a quick 1-2 , before the fullback backpedals to receive a strong pass onto their back foot and then quickly clip the ball into the goal .

The second drill is more advanced and more reactive . I have the full back do a pass back to me on either side of the mini pole , and then they backpedal into position. As the pass comes to them, I shout between one of two colours . There are a set of cones in either corner at the end of the pitch (one of them was orange, the other was white). The player must cross the ball between those sets of cones . This is all about decision-making and crossing technique .
