Today we are going to speak about the Affidavit of Support, Form I-864: Income Requirement, and how to determine this income requirement and meet the income requirement for the Affidavit of Support.

First, the petitioner on Form I-130 automatically becomes the sponsor on the Affidavit of Support Form I-864, even if they do not meet the income requirement. Generally, the sponsor should show that they maintain an annual income that is at least 125% of the Federal Poverty Income Line, or at least 100% of the Federal Poverty Income Line if they are active-duty members of the U.S. Armed Forces.
