Farhang Foundation was proud to welcome The Melieka Fathi Dance Company to perform a very special dance for our Nowruz program in 2021. Artistic director and principle dancer Melieka Fathi’s choreographic style draws upon the inspirations and aesthetics of classical Iranian dance and music. The song "Roosari Abi" by Ali Zand Vakili refers to the enchantment of a girl wearing a blue veil or headscarf, and the piece was styled to encompass the elegance of this character through the blue-veiled dancers and their movements. The folkloric and classical nature of the music inspired the Persepolis-esque setting for the video, which was filmed at Darioush Winery in Napa, California.
