Should you buy a renovated home that is move-in ready or a fixer upper that needs a full renovation? I have flipped over 250 homes as well as sold hundreds of homes as realtor. Having been the flipper, the home owner, and the trusted realtor of home buyers, I have an expert perspective that you're unlikely to get elsewhere. I also have a contractor that my clients get access to that gives better prices than anywhere else on the market and can get a full renovation done in as little as 4 weeks. All that being said, here is a summary of the pros and cons:

Renovated Home:
Pros: It's move in ready, you don't have to do anything to it, less stress
Cons: You might not like the specific finishes, you pay a premium for it being renovated, higher competition from other buyers,

Fixer Upper:
Pros: You can add value & gain equity by renovating it, It only takes 4-6 weeks with my contractor, you have me as an advisor to make decisions, you can get it exactly how you want it
Cons: It takes more time (both to get the home ready to move into, and more time from you to plan & make decisions, you will have to pay mortgage/rent on your old home and your new one while it gets renovated,
