Abakaliki the capital city of Ebonyi State stands as the heartbeat of Nigeria’s youngest state in the South-East.
Created on the 1st of October, 1996, under the military administration of General Sani Abacha, Ebonyi State has since grown into a land of promise and potential.
Blessed with an abundance of natural resources such as salt, limestone, lead, zinc, granite, marble, kaolin, and clay, the state’s rich soil tells a story of wealth beneath the surface.

Beyond its resources, Ebonyi is also known for its deep cultural diversity — a people united in strength, tradition, and resilience.

Yet, despite these blessings, the state has long battled challenges of public health particularly airborne diseases reminding us that progress is not only about what lies beneath the earth, but also about the wellbeing of those who walk upon it.

One of the major factors contributing to these health challenges is the lack of a proper waste management culture among residents. Over the years, poor disposal practices and inadequate sanitation systems have worsened environmental conditions, giving rise to recurring outbreaks of airborne diseases.

For Abakaliki to truly breathe the air of progress, a change in attitude towards waste management is not just necessary it is essential for the health and future of its people.
