I guess you see a lot of videos telling you you're learning scales wrong, or that there are various "hacks" you could try. I don't think there's any shortcut to anything particularly worthwhile in music, and when it comes to scales - I think there's an understanding for most of us that knowing the fretboard better is a good thing. Guthrie Govan has an interesting perspective on this, and I wanted to sort of expand on his ideas a bit.
