Guitar Lesson: Yngwie Malmsteen's Trilogy Suite Performance Secrets - Chris Brooks

Описание к видео Guitar Lesson: Yngwie Malmsteen's Trilogy Suite Performance Secrets - Chris Brooks

Yngwie's Trilogy Suite is a highlight of the nimble-fingered Swede's catalogue in both playing and composition. In this video, I use the knowledge of his picking system and some deductive reasoning to determine some of the most authentic ways to perform it and to decode some of the elements that still have many folks stumped. Thanks to all who've suggested it.

PS. One thing I always forget when I play this stuff is that, on diminished 7th arpeggios, Yngwie uses the 4th finger for the highest note of the E string a lot of the time, but the 3rd finger on the G string on the same fret. My habit is to use the 3rd on both. The tablature reflects Yngwie's habit, not mine. If you spot any fingering issues in the tab (not the playing), drop me a line!

PPS, total brain fart in editing the intro. I bumped the second chord stab out of place on the video timeline haha

Trilogy is the third studio album by guitarist Yngwie Malmsteen, released in October 1986 through Polydor Records. The album reached No. 44 on the US Billboard 200 and charted within the top 60 in the Netherlands and Sweden. In the liner notes, Malmsteen dedicates the album to the memory of the late Swedish prime minister Olof Palme, who was assassinated on 28 February 1986.

Many Yngwie Malmsteen fans rate Trilogy as one of his best albums. The title track, Trilogy Suite Op. 5 became an instant classic and is regularly cited as one of Malmsteen's best compositions.
