The Long Weekend Marhamchurch (1999)

Описание к видео The Long Weekend Marhamchurch (1999)

1999, possibly March. Shot on my trusty Hi8 camcorder. And possibly edited in 2000 or 2001 using Premiere 6. Because of this it was afforded a more descriptive title, despite which "The Long Weekend" remains accurate. Being 1999, I would have normally edited this linearly onto S-VHS, OR using the Pinnacle Studio 7 system. I suspect some dis-satisfaction with how that latter system worked - brilliant concept though it was - lead to the tape(s) being kept "in the can" until I was fully digital. And 2001 was that time!

This was a 2 or 3 night spontaneously-booked trip away to the small village of Marhamchurch near Bude in North East Cornwall. As was always likely, the weather turned rather cool and brought some showers with it, reducing our chances of seeing a bit more. Nevertheless, we discovered the lovely village of Lerryn on its tidal estuary and I made the most of one afternoon around Marhamchurch itself. On the final day going home, we stopped at the beautiful Dunster in Northern Exmoor, close to the North Somerset Coast, with its ancient market cross prominent at the north end of the undulating High Street. The roads betray the fact rain had only recently left the vicinity and - as is typical of a break away - the sun started making its presence felt, the swine.

Though I didn't list the music used, YouTube's algorithms have kindly done the decent thing and recognised I used the following - "Gymnopodie No. 3", orchestrated by Debussy - "Sheep May Safely Graze" from Cantata No. 208 - and "Symphony No. 5 in C-Sharp Minor: Adagietto". You'll find what versions by whom and on what collections they appear down below, I'm sure.
