Today there was a charity event open day held at the Siemens Train Care Facility at Northam here in Southampton where there was an appearance of Swanage Railways preserved Steam Engine M7 Tank No: 30053 giving rides up and down a half mile of track if you paid £1 for Adults and 50p for children. Also the maintenance sheds were open where you could see what work went on to repair and keep in good working order the modern trains we see today, the depot caters for about 172 trains on its schedule for service.

Also at the event was a couple of traction steam engines where people paid a donation to have a go on and some people even had a go at driving one including some children I saw but under supervision. And last of all there was even a miniature steam loco called "Wensleydale" for the smaller children plus a few adults had a ride too.
